Bihar Land Survey: Patna

Amid the ongoing land survey in Bihar, the Revenue Department has taken strict action against negligence and corruption among its officials. The Revenue and Land Reforms Department has suspended 12 Circle Officers (COs) for corruption and withheld the salaries of 189 incompetent COs. This is claimed to be the first significant action of its kind since India’s independence.

The special land survey work, which began in August this year, revealed multiple instances where Circle Officers failed to provide timely and accurate documentation to landowners.

Public Services Delays Won't Be Tolerated

Speaking to local media, Minister Dilip Jaiswal emphasized accountability. He said, “Whether it’s survey work or any other task of the Revenue Department, our priority is to serve the public. Officers and employees are clearly warned: delay in public service, injustice, or corruption will not be tolerated. I am a minister whose actions ensure no one escapes accountability.”

This action, he added, serves as a strong warning to other Circle Officers.

Final Warning to Officials

Minister Jaiswal declared, “No one can escape my scrutiny or my actions. Just as Yamaraj decides fates, the law will decide theirs. My fierce side will be evident in the coming days.”

Earlier, Additional Chief Secretary Deepak Kumar directed Divisional Commissioners to ensure that all Deputy Collectors of Land Reforms (DCLRs) complete their tasks promptly. Non-compliance or offline operations will result in strict action. The recent crackdown on COs is a continuation of this directive.
