The upcoming PACS (Primary Agricultural Credit Society) elections on November 27 in four panchayats of Kurseela block have significantly intensified the political atmosphere. In East Muradpur Panchayat, four candidates are contesting for the PACS president post, while three candidates each are vying for the position in Shahpur Dharmi, South Muradpur, and Jarlahi panchayats. To secure victory, the candidates have ramped up their voter outreach campaigns.
With just three days left for the elections, candidates and their supporters are working tirelessly, connecting with voters day and night. Being a local election, voters are refraining from openly expressing their preferences and are aligning with every candidate to maintain neutrality. This indecisiveness among voters is causing anxiety for the candidates, though each claims confidence in their victory. The true outcome, however, will only be revealed after the voting concludes.
As the election date nears, the political fervor across the four panchayats is intensifying. Meanwhile, local leaders are attempting to influence the elections by giving them a political, caste-based, or communal angle, making the contest even more intriguing and complex. Open support from these leaders for certain candidates has further stiffened the competition.
Bipin Kumar, the Block Cooperative Extension Officer, stated that the elections would be held at 11 booths for 6,929 voters, who will cast their votes to elect four PACS presidents and one management committee. Administrative preparations for the election are in full swing. He added that 11 booths have been set up for the elections: three booths at Upper Middle School Sarvodaya in Tingharia for 1,595 voters of South Muradpur, three at the Panchayat Bhawan in Kataria for 1,888 voters of Shahpur Dharmi, three at the Panchayat Bhawan in Jarlahi for 1,655 voters, and two at Upper Middle School Basuhar Majdia for 1,691 voters of East Muradpur.
Notably, the PACS president election in one of the panchayats, North Muradpur, has already been decided unopposed. As election day approaches, voter activity has surged. Contesting candidates are employing every possible tactic to gain voter favor, going door-to-door in their efforts to secure s
