The Legendary Yamaha RX100 is Coming back to market

In a moment you've been waiting for if you're a motorcycle enthusiast, Yamaha Motor India has finally confirmed that the iconic Yamaha RX100 is set to make a come-back! Set to hit the roads once again on January 15, 2025, it is this famous bike that won the hearts of riders in the 1980s and 1990s. The up coming RX100 aims to rekindle those nostalgic days and here comes with the state of the art features so as to say is one of the most awaited launches in Indian motorcycle history.


What Made the RX100 Special?

The Yamaha RX100 was first introduced in India way back in 1985. It soon emerged as one of the favorites, thanks in part to its speed, stylish good looks and reliability. The lightweight body and rapid performance were popular with riders.

Now, Yamaha has reintroduced this bike due to its huge fan base. Its return has been a long-standing request from many fans. Retro-styled bikes are back in a big way and it was the right opportunity to bring back RX100 in a big way.


Hiroshi Suzuki, the managing director of Yamaha Motor India, commented, “The RX100 is more than a motorcycle; RX100 is a part of Indian motorcycling history. We are excited to reintroduce this icon, reborn for today’s world with a nod to its classic spirit.”

What’s New in the 2025 RX100?

1.So the new RX100 might look very similar to the old one but Yamaha have done a lot of work to introduce modern technology and safety features. So what’s so special about the 2025 RX100?


2.Powertrain: Replaces the ancient 98cc unit with a current 150cc joke. It is air-cooled and has a single-cylinder. The new engine offers smooth power and various MPG, boosting anywhere from 10 to 15 hp.


3.Styling: The motorcycle also retains its classic shape with the teardrop-shaped fuel tank and round headlamp. But now it features LED lights and a digital-analog speedometer.


The chassis consists of a rugged steel frame, combined with the front forks and rear shock abs


4.Brakes: The bike is a lot safer with disc brakes on both ends and ABS (Anti-lock Braking System).


Modern Features: A fuel injection, an electric starter, and even a USB charging port are new additions.


Who is the RX100 For?

The RX100 is Yamaha's effort to be a premium choice for the discerning customers who look for a motorcycle with panache and dependability. It’s designed for:

Expect the bike to be priced in the range of ₹1,20,000 - ₹1,40,000 (ex-showroom). This positions it against motorcycles such as the Royal Enfield Classic 350, Jawa Forty Two and other best-sellers in the 150-160cc category.


Where Will the RX100 Be Made?

Yamaha will manufacture the new RX100 in its Chennai, Tamil Nadu based factory. To begin with, they will produce 10,000 bikes a month. They can even produce more depending on demand. Bookings for the new YZF R15 V5 will likely open at Yamaha dealerships across India on launch day.

Along with the new RX100, Yamaha is also offering a lot of accessories and merchandise for RX100 owners. That means riders are free to customize their bikes and be unofficial spokespersons for the RX100.

Big launch event: In New Delhi that's on January 15, 2025 from Yamaha. Said event will be streamed live so that fans across India can participate and Yamaha has also started airing teaser videos of the RX100 on TV and across social media.

Competition: The RX100 will rival other retro-styled bikes such as the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and the Jawa Forty Two. It goes without saying that the RX100 should feel special.

Performance Expectations The original RX100 came equipped with the two-stroke engine that gained a lot of ardor for its sound and performance. This new four-stroke engine needs to deliver on the high expectations.
